The SOAR Center firmly believes in the power of students to motivate their peers. SOAR promotes and supports student initiated projects to fully involve and engage students at UCI. Advised by Professional Staff and Student Advisory Committees, Student Coordinators work directly with student leaders to plan, organize, and implement their outreach and retention projects on and off campus. Professional Staff host office hours to meet with students who are facing academic challenges, need guidance, or want to explore post-graduation pathways. The Dreamer Coordinator provides additional services and resources for undocumented students, also referred to as Dreamers.
The hours of operation of the SOAR Center were Monday-Thursday (9am-7pm) & Friday (9am-5pm). During its hours of operation it serves as an information hub and a bridge between students and the resources that contribute to their academic, personal, and social development and success. In addition, student organizations receive advice and support to plan and implement their academic preparation and retention initiatives for first-generation, underrepresented and underserved students.
The professional staff of the SOAR Center provide Academic Consultations to students who are facing academic challenges, need guidance, or want to explore post-graduation pathways. In addition, they work closely with students who are in Academic Probation (AP) or subject to dismissal to help them fulfill the requirements set by their Academic Schools. They are available by appointment during their office hours.
The SOAR Center is equipped with computers and an information station, a lounge, and a multipurpose room. The lounge and the multipurpose room primarily function as a study space Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Are you in a need of a place to store or warm up your lunch? SOAR provides a microwave, refrigerator, and a water station in case you need to store and eat your food during our hours of operations. We also have computer stations for students to utilize.
